This would definitely be written as one of the most memorable ironies of all times. Mehul Choksi, a student of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat has recently finished his doctorate on the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While this is a moment of celebration for the achiever and his family, it seems he has been the victim of his own name. Yes, you thought it right. His namesake is none other than the fraud who owes thousands of crores of rupees to Indian banks.
However, this Choksi is a lawyer who has completed his Masters in Political Science. “Leadership Under Government: Case Study of Narendra Modi” was the topic of his thesis. He has claimed to have surveyed about 450 people including students, teachers, farmers, government officials, and others during his research. They were required to answer a set of 32 questions.
Based on the answers, he has found that about 81 percent of the people he surveyed felt that “positive leadership” is an essential quality in a Prime Minister. While 31 percent and 34 percent of respondents stressed upon transparency and authenticity respectively. It also came to notice that 48 percent of people believed that it was PM Modi’s marketing skills that made him favorite. While according to 25 percent, it was his speeches that made him stand out.
As per the report, Choksi started working on this thesis in 2010, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. This research was done over a decade until finally, his labor bore him fruit.
However, the fact that scholar shares his name with the absconding diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, who along with his nephew Nirav Modi is wanted for a long time now, for being the mastermind behind the Rs 13,000-crore Punjab National Bank fraud, didn’t fail to tickle the funny bones of netizens.
